Short Review
The Harlequin is a Bergamo mask of the Italian commedia dell'arte, characterized by a colored diamond-patterned dress, which has a role similar to that of the "court jester". Ontani makes some changes to this mask. The hat is not just any felt one but a colored cone of those used to celebrate the end of the year. He also has black skin and therefore we can define him as an African Harlequin. Another distinctive feature of this Harlequin is the long nose like Pinocchio. With this Ontani wants to signify the role of a liar as well as that of a witty man. The sculpture is mounted on a golden twisted base that gives a notable impact to the whole.
